Living with ITP can be challenging. It may help to take an active role in the management of your low platelets, including:
- Tracking your platelet counts by having regular blood tests
- Tracking your test results and sharing them with your doctor or nurse
- Being aware of symptoms, such as the number or severity of bruises or bleeding
- Calling your doctor if you notice new bruises or bleeding, or any new symptoms
- Beware of how ITP and the medicines you take impact your daily activities
- Talking with your doctor or nurse if you feel more tired than normal. The cause of this tiredness is unknown, but there are steps you can take to feel better and stay on track with your treatment
- Making the most of your appointment with your doctor or nurse
Be sure to talk with your doctor and nurse about other ways to take an active role in the management of your ITP.
